Tokyo has secured number one position on the Safe Cities Index 2019 list. Only two Indian cities – Mumbai and New Delhi have been successful in securing 45th and 52nd position in the list of 60 most safe cities in the world. Safe Cities Index 2019 is a report from The Economist Intelligence Unit.
Tokyo is followed by Singapore, Osaka, Amsterdam, Sydney and Toronto. America’s Washington DC has secured seventh position, while Seoul and Copenhagen have made a tie for the eighth position. The study has been carried out based on 57 indicators, covering digital security, health security, infrastructure security and personal security.
New Delhi and Mumbai have both secured 47th position in terms of Digital Security; Mumbai secured 50th , while New Delhi secured 51st in terms of Health Security; Mumbai secured 50th , while New Delhi ranked 57th in terms of Infrastructure Security; and in Personal Security, Mumbai secured 37th while New Delhi secured 41st positions. Tokyo lead the Digital Security segment; Osaka lead the Health Security segment, while, Singapore topped both the Infrastructure and Personal Security segments.
